Brennan's pen and ink drawings are created in a unique style incorporating pointillism with negative space drawing.  He began developing and using this style whilst studying in China in 2008. When using pen and ink, his focus is on light, contrast, and composition. His drawings—mainly naturalist illustrations merge old and new worlds of visual illustration in which realism and pontillism combined with high contrast negative space drawing render a graphic feel to a free-hand drawing.
